Call it larceny. Colston Loveland sat on the board until slot 84, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice.
They are betting Hancock proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 19 they get a wrecking ball inside at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tyler Booker at Round 2, Pick 21. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Taking Colston Loveland in the Round 3 slot is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Elic Ayomanor at the 120th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jordan Hancock in the 164th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
