This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Nicholas Singleton, the No. 100 name on the board, stolen at the Round 5 slot.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They will need Egbuka to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 19th pick they get a difference-maker at receiver, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Malaki Starks at the 55th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A tidy bit of business in Round 3, Pick 22, where Deone Walker graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jake Majors reach pick No. 122 and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nicholas Singleton in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at No. 239 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
