The Xavier Thomas selection is the head-turner. The Texans reached 30 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 26 they get a weapon on the perimeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They took Kalen King at par in the 49th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
No drama and no debate, Nazir Stackhouse went about where he belonged in the 92nd pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Junior Colson in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Cade Stover at Round 4, Pick 26 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Malachi Moore at slot 154 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Xavier Thomas. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Reuben Fatheree II in the 238th overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
