The Texans torched the value chart for Thor Griffith, taking him 52 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

The Williams value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Tyler Warren · TE · rank 16
In the 25th overall pick they get a matchup weapon at tight end, outstanding value to boot.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Marcus Mbow · OT · rank 52
A clean, defensible pick in No. 58 with a little surplus value in Marcus Mbow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Andrew Mukuba · S · rank 87
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Andrew Mukuba. A minor itch, scratched.
R4.26 · Pick 127 · Savion Williams · WR · rank 93
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Savion Williams in pick 127, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.28 · Pick 167 · Quincy Riley · CB · rank 173
No edge and no loss on Quincy Riley in slot 167; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R7.25 · Pick 243 · Thor Griffith · DL · rank 295
Thor Griffith in the 243rd pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
