The Texans treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 158th pick on Gabe Hall a full 35 spots early. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Barron falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a matchup problem out wide. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A tidy little value on T.J. Tampa in pick 53, a step better than break-even. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Blake Fisher at slot 88 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Junior Colson in the Round 4 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jahdae Barron in pick No. 127. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They reached a country mile for Gabe Hall at No. 158, and the board is aghast. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Brevyn Spann-Ford at Round 7, Pick 19 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Cody Schrader in No. 242 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
