The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The Limmer pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The Legette pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 9 they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
Xavier Legette at No. 35 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Patrick Paul at Round 2, Pick 9 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Keon Coleman slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the wide receiver. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Matt Goncalves at slot 98 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Beaux Limmer in pick 109 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
A tidy bit of business in the 140th overall pick, where Khyree Jackson graded well above the range. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Dallin Holker at the 181st pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Frank Gore Jr. in Round 7, Pick 4 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
