Thirty-one other rooms let Eli Stowers slide, and the Browns were the ones holding the card at the 101st pick. Highway robbery. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
Pick-by-Pick
A reasonable price with a little left over, Avieon Terrell in pick No. 24. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
In No. 26 they get a three-down second-level presence. Need was not the driver here.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Omar Cooper Jr.. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Dillon Thieneman at slot 38 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Eli Stowers in Round 4, Pick 1, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid up for Drew Allar at pick 146 when waiting would have done the job. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Josh Cameron in the 206th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Bryce Foster in the Round 7 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
