There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Cowboys started one anyway for Giovanni El-Hadi, 30 picks ahead of schedule. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. Landing Walley that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
Nice patience on Ollie Gordon II, who had no business lasting to No. 36. The roster fit checks out.
Ajani Cornelius in Round 2, Pick 30 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Malachi Moore at the 94th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
No drama and no debate, Jason Marshall Jr. went about where he belonged in pick No. 100. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Derrick Moore in slot 126; it is a wash and a sensible one. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Akheem Mesidor at the Round 5 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Justin Walley slid further than he should have, and Round 6, Pick 30 is lovely value for the cornerback. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They reached a country mile for Giovanni El-Hadi at the 222nd overall pick, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
