The Vikings torched the value chart for J.J. Weaver, taking him 99 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through safety.
They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value.
A big swing on T'Vondre Sweat at Round 2, Pick 10, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No drama and no debate, Leonard Taylor III went about where he belonged in pick No. 108. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
J.J. Weaver in the 129th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They jumped the gun on Austin Booker, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They will replay Ricky Pearsall at pick 160 for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A tidy little value on Joe Milton III in the 168th overall pick, a step better than break-even. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They read the board right and LaDarius Henderson was the payoff at slot 179. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Somehow Brennan Jackson was still sitting there in pick 230, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
