The rest of the league will want that one back. Malachi Corley tumbling to the Vikings in No. 109 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 11 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value. A real need, handled.
J.J. McCarthy in the 42nd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They barely believed it either: Malachi Corley still on the board at the 109th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Javon Foster in slot 130 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
James Williams is a better player than Round 5, Pick 9 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Dylan Laube at No. 157 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board had McCallan Castles higher than the Round 5 slot, and the tight end fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They robbed the room for Ty'Ron Hopper here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor need, but a need all the same.
No drama and no debate, Ryan Watts went about where he belonged in pick 227. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
