Start where it matters. The Vikings took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain. Getting Cohen where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 7 they get the face of the franchise. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid sticker price for Chris Braswell in pick 51, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Michael Hall Jr. at the 83rd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They took Braelon Allen at par in No. 148, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They read the board right and Javion Cohen was the payoff at pick No. 160. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Sincere Haynesworth at the 168th pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No drama and no debate, Javon Baker went about where he belonged in slot 179. It fills a real need, too.
Nice patience on Sheridan Jones, who had no business lasting to the Round 7 slot. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
