The war room fell hard for Billy Schrauth, and it showed at the Round 2 slot: 61 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.
However the rest shakes out, Burks at that price is a win they earned. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 27 they get a long-term starter on the line, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A real head-scratcher, Billy Schrauth in the Round 2 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board fumbled Deion Burks all the way to the 127th pick, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy bit of business in No. 133, where Jack Endries graded well above the range. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No edge and no loss on DeMonte Capehart in Round 4, Pick 38; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jakobe Thomas at pick 139 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
