The Broncos put a flag in the ground for Deven Eastern, 33 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The Austin pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the linebacker spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Zachariah Branch at pick No. 62, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Sam Roush in pick 108. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Darrell Jackson Jr. is a better player than the Round 4 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kevin Coleman Jr. at slot 170. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Deven Eastern this early at No. 246. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
