The Commanders went off the board in a big way for Nadame Tucker, 25 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Law. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 7th pick they get juice off the edge. A real need, handled.
They reached into another round for Drew Shelton, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Nadame Tucker in Round 5, Pick 7, miles early. It fills a real need, too.
The board had cheaper options than Justin Jefferson at the Round 6 slot, and it noticed. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kendrick Law in the 209th overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Fair-plus on Thaddeus Dixon, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
