Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Saints never addressed running back, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The Allar pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 8 they get a two-high chess piece. More want than need.
A straight-up fair deal on Zion Young at the 42nd pick, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No edge and no loss on Domonique Orange in the 73rd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Justin Joly in the Round 4 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They read the board right and Will Lee III was the payoff at No. 136. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nice patience on CJ Daniels, who had no business lasting to slot 150. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Drew Allar at Round 5, Pick 32 is the proof. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A slide stopped in pick No. 190, with Keagen Trost worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
