The Vikings treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending pick 157 on Xavier Thomas a full 121 spots early. The bottom line is a respectable B.
They have staked the next five years on Drake Maye, which is the only story that really matters here. The Corley pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get a long-term answer under center. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Rome Odunze in pick 42 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They barely believed it either: Malachi Corley still on the board at the 109th pick. The roster fit checks out.
A cornerback of that caliber at the 130th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Javon Foster at No. 145 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Xavier Thomas in the Round 5 slot, miles early. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They let Ty'Ron Hopper come to them and pounced at Round 5, Pick 30. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Gabe Hall. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Value said wait; DeMonte Capehart in slot 227 says they were not listening. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
