Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Vikings were there to profit. LaDarius Henderson, the No. 169 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 190. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They will regret leaving safety for another day if the season turns on it. Spending an early pick on cornerback with safety, running back and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.

In slot 30 they get a double-digit-sack hope. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A straight-up fair deal on J.J. McCarthy at pick 42, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
By-the-book stuff, Max Melton at No. 109 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tommy Eichenberg. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went cornerback with Kris Abrams-Draine while clear needs at safety, running back and other spots sat open.
A clean, defensible pick in the 156th pick with a little surplus value in Javion Cohen. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Khristian Boyd at the 166th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jordan Jefferson at the Round 6 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The roster fit checks out.
They will replay LaDarius Henderson at the Round 6 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
