The Vikings spent the pick that matters most on J.J. McCarthy, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

They will answer for taking cornerback early while tight end went begging. Reaching for McCarthy left real value on the table behind him. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The McClellan pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
