The rest of the league will want that one back. Isaiah Williams tumbling to the Vikings in the 227th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through safety. The Smith pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with safety, tight end and other spots still on the board.
A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Chop Robinson in No. 34, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They did well to land Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in slot 42, just ahead of his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A surprising call. With safety, tight end and other spots still to address, they spent pick No. 104 on Maason Smith, a DT-EDGE they were not short of.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went cornerback with Khyree Jackson while clear needs at safety, tight end and other spots sat open.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tommy Eichenberg in Round 4, Pick 30. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A slide stopped in pick 145, with Cam Hart worth more than the price. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
By-the-book stuff, Jaylen Wright at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Good price on LaDarius Henderson in the 166th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board had Joe Milton III higher than slot 179, and the quarterback fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They robbed the room for Isaiah Williams here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
