The Vikings lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They are betting Rattler proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Jones. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, wide receiver very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 20 they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
A straight-up fair deal on Chris Braswell at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They took T'Vondre Sweat at par in pick No. 42, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A reach on Spencer Rattler in slot 55; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Cooper Beebe in the 77th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They let Calen Bullock come to them and pounced at the 90th overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Cody Schrader in Round 5, Pick 20 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Value with a capital V on Jarrian Jones in No. 166, a genuine coup. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Khristian Boyd at No. 176 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Jordan Jefferson went about where he belonged in pick 187. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
