The Vikings clearly saw something nobody else did in Carson Steele, taking him 55 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. With quarterback and interior defensive lineman unsolved, spending premium capital on OLB-EDGE is the choice that costs them.
The Sinnott steal is the beam this whole class leans on. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 11th pick they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Chop Robinson in slot 42 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A want over a need in Round 4, Pick 9: Javon Solomon adds an OLB-EDGE while quarterback and interior defensive lineman keeps waiting.
A quiet steal in pick No. 130: Darius Robinson for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy little value on Malik Mustapha in pick 145, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ben Sinnott at the Round 5 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They talked themselves into Javon Baker at the Round 5 slot, and the board did not agree. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
LaDarius Henderson in No. 179 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Carson Steele at the 227th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
