Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Patriots.

Some picks age like wine; Seth McLaughlin at the 106th pick will need to, sitting 58 spots clear of his grade. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.4 · Pick 4 · Tetairoa McMillan · WR · rank 11
In pick No. 4 they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R1.24 · Pick 24 · Aireontae Ersery · OT · rank 46
In slot 24 they get an anchor for the offensive line, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Ozzy Trapilo · OT · rank 82
Ozzy Trapilo in the 69th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.4 · Pick 106 · Seth McLaughlin · C · rank 164
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Seth McLaughlin well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
