The Patriots ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The cost of the Rattler reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
The Josh Oliver deal gives the class an established piece to lean on. The Hadden steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick-by-Pick
Jared Verse in Round 1, Pick 11 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
In No. 23 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Troy Franklin. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nice patience on Kingsley Suamataia, who had no business lasting to the 68th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Spencer Rattler at slot 103 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
Isaac Guerendo in pick 137 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
A slide stopped in the 180th overall pick, with Kamal Hadden worth more than the price. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Curtis Jacobs at the Round 6 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It adds depth where they could use a little.
