Somebody in the Round 4 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Patriots sat still while Ozzy Trapilo, the No. 82 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 4 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a weapon on the perimeter, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tate Ratledge. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Taking Ozzy Trapilo in No. 106 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
