The board owed the Vikings one, and it paid up: Isaiah Davis, the No. 164 name on the board, sitting there at Round 6, Pick 15 like a gift left on the doorstep. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.
Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The veteran additions, Maliek Collins chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
Bottom line, with Laiatu Latu leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy bit of business in Round 1, Pick 23, where Laiatu Latu graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Bo Nix at pick 42 is money in the bank, a quarterback taken below his worth. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Blake Corum at slot 109 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The roster fit checks out.
Kalen King in pick No. 156 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Tommy Eichenberg at the 166th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They barely believed it either: Isaiah Davis still on the board at No. 190. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
