Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Giants came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.
Every board in the league had Wilson lower, and that gap is the story. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.
That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 11 they get a sticky cover corner, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on J.J. McCarthy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Johnny Wilson in the 49th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Trey Benson in the 70th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Zak Zinter at slot 107 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good price on Leonard Taylor III in pick 115, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A conviction pick on Kitan Oladapo at the Round 5 slot that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid up for Jaylen Harrell at No. 185 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
