There is conviction, and then there is this. The Packers took Isaiah Davis a full 53 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
That Pearsall pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a blindside protector, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
They liked Kalen King enough to skip the value, taking him in the 40th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in pick No. 51 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor itch, scratched.
A conviction pick on Miles Frazier at pick 197 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A slide stopped in the 217th overall pick, with Ricky Pearsall worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A real head-scratcher, Jordan Jefferson in No. 219 is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They talked themselves into Isaiah Davis at No. 240, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
