The Patriots spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Quinshon Judkins, the No. 84 name on the board, in the 220th overall pick. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
If Roberts pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 4 they get an island corner. More want than need.
Princely Umanmielen at Round 2, Pick 4 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dylan Fairchild at pick No. 68. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Somehow Jay Higgins was still sitting there in the 83rd pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Jaeden Roberts in pick 105 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Steal is underselling it; Jake Majors at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Quinshon Judkins in No. 220, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Logan Parr at the 223rd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Harold Perkins Jr. in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
