This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Garret Greenfield, the No. 216 name on the board, stolen at the Round 7 slot. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
Christian Mahogany at No. 95 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Roger Rosengarten at the Round 5 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jacob Cowing in the 159th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had Dwight McGlothern higher than Round 5, Pick 37, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Garret Greenfield at the 252nd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
