After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Commanders committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will answer for taking OLB-EDGE early while wide receiver, tight end and other spots went begging.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Oladapo.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 2 they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Graham Barton went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No drama and no debate, Bralen Trice went about where he belonged in the 40th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Max Melton at Round 3, Pick 37 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A want over a need in slot 102: Javon Solomon adds an OLB-EDGE while wide receiver, tight end and other spots keeps waiting.
Javion Cohen in the Round 5 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A slide stopped in the 181st pick, with Kitan Oladapo worth more than the price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Nice patience on Jawhar Jordan, who had no business lasting to pick No. 223. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
