The phones were a trap the Cowboys kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.
Everything downstream of Bo Nix depends on Bo Nix, and the building knows it. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, Kamari Lassiter at slot 38 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They took Jonathon Brooks at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nothing to complain about; Jeremiah Trotter Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Patrick Paul at No. 75 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Ja'Lynn Polk at pick 87 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
