The Raiders lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.
The whole projection now runs through Cam Ward; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
If Stewart pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The McCullough value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.
There is no soft landing here; this class has to massively overperform just to matter.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
They took Jason Marshall Jr. at par in the 42nd pick, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Nice patience on TreVeyon Henderson, who had no business lasting to pick 73. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Evan Stewart in pick No. 75 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Davison Igbinosun in the 109th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A conviction pick on Jaishawn Barham at Round 5, Pick 7 that the board grades a round light. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A premium they did not need to pay, PJ Williams a notch or two before his time. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Somehow Dasan McCullough was still sitting there in slot 212, and they pounced on premier safety value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
No drama and no debate, Javontez Spraggins went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid a round early for Akili Arnold in pick No. 225, more than the board wanted. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
