You build a draft on nights like this. Marcellas Dial had no business being available in the 240th overall pick, and the Eagles did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. They are betting Barrett proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 22 they get a sticky cover corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They read the board right and Xavier Legette was the payoff at pick No. 50. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No edge and no loss on Chris Braswell in the 54th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid sticker price for Tykee Smith in Round 3, Pick 34, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Steal is underselling it; Cam Hart at No. 160 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Kitan Oladapo at slot 170 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Michael Barrett at the Round 5 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A quiet steal in the 178th overall pick: Jaylen Wright for less than the market said. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Marcellas Dial in Round 7, Pick 20, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
