The search is over. The Commanders handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
They will need Robinson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The Tampa steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 7 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Xavier Legette in the 36th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
JC Latham in pick 37 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
T.J. Tampa at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reach on Tommy Eichenberg in Round 3, Pick 37; the board had better options right there. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Dominick Puni in the 104th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A big swing on Darius Robinson at slot 141, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They liked McCallan Castles enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 144. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Delmar Glaze at Round 6, Pick 7 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They talked themselves into Justin Eboigbe at the Round 7 slot, and the board did not agree. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
