After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Commanders committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Asante has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. However the rest shakes out, Fuaga at that price is a win they earned.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th pick they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Nice patience on Taliese Fuaga, who had no business lasting to pick 36. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Josh Newton. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tyler Guyton in the 68th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
AJ Barner at the Round 3 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They took Marshawn Kneeland at par in No. 104, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Beaux Limmer at pick No. 141 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jacob Cowing in Round 6, Pick 7 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Eugene Asante at No. 225 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
