They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Thor Griffith, 79 picks early at the 207th overall pick.
The Fitzgerald value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, wide receiver very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 29 they get an anchor for the defensive front. A clean fit for the roster.
Azareye'h Thomas at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reach on Ozzy Trapilo in slot 79; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Logan Brown at the 110th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Elijah Arroyo in pick No. 148 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They reached into another round for Thor Griffith, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Taking Ryan Fitzgerald in the 245th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a specialist that good had no business lasting this long. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Somehow Trevor Etienne was still sitting there in No. 250, and they pounced on premier running back value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
