Good, not great, for the Commanders: B-.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Johnny Wilson at the 40th overall pick is 39 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Sanders value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Joe Alt in No. 2; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Edgerrin Cooper in slot 36, miles early. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They reached into another round for Johnny Wilson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nice patience on Ja'Tavion Sanders, who had no business lasting to pick 67. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A conviction pick on Braelon Allen at the 100th pick that the board grades a round light. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
James Williams at Round 4, Pick 2 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Cam Hart in Round 5, Pick 5 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid up for Jordan Jefferson at pick 181 when waiting would have done the job. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Value said wait; J.J. Weaver in slot 223 says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
