The Commanders spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
They are betting Cohen proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
A tidy little value on Chop Robinson in slot 39, a step better than break-even. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Quinyon Mitchell in Round 2, Pick 8 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Ja'Tavion Sanders at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the 67th overall pick is the proof. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Roman Wilson in the 88th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jamari Thrash at pick No. 103 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A straight-up fair deal on Jaden Hicks at No. 108, value and slot in agreement. A minor itch, scratched.
They went early on Isaiah Adams in the 116th overall pick, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid up for Javion Cohen at the 140th pick when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
