Washington Commanders

A solid, sensible weekend for the Commanders: B.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Commanders spent the 209th overall pick on Bryce Foster, a name the board had a full 52 spots lower.

The Haulcy value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. The Harold Landry III deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.31 · Pick 31 · KC Concepcion · WR · rank 25
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a matchup problem out wide. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.31 · Pick 63 · Nicholas Singleton · RB · rank 113
Nicholas Singleton at pick No. 63 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
R3.7 · Pick 71 · A.J. Haulcy · S · rank 50
A top-tier safety at a bargain, A.J. Haulcy in the 71st pick, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R4.31 · Pick 131 · Julian Neal · CB · rank 119
Julian Neal at the 131st overall pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.7 · Pick 147 · Taylen Green · QB · rank 194
Value said wait; Taylen Green in pick 147 says they were not listening. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.6 · Pick 187 · Caleb Douglas · WR · rank 167
Steal is underselling it; Caleb Douglas at slot 187 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.28 · Pick 209 · Bryce Foster · C · rank 261
A wild overpay on Bryce Foster in Round 6, Pick 28, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.7 · Pick 223 · Jimmy Rolder · LB · rank 231
Jimmy Rolder in No. 223 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
