You could see the war room lean forward. Barrett Carter at slot 146 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The Wedig pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. Tight end is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.

In the Round 1 slot they get a downhill hitter at safety, outstanding value to boot.
Tyler Warren at No. 59 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Cam Skattebo at pick No. 79 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Barrett Carter in the 146th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Cobee Bryant in pick 202, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Trey Wedig in the 235th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A real head-scratcher, Micah Morris in slot 246 is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
