The search is over. The Commanders handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Jackson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Every board in the league had Wilson lower, and that gap is the story.
They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 4 they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Keon Coleman. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board had Jared Verse higher than pick No. 37, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Patrick Paul in the 68th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Payton Wilson in the Round 3 slot, miles early. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A tidy bit of business in Round 4, Pick 4, where Dominick Puni graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Value said wait; Ben Sinnott in No. 141 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They robbed the room for Khyree Jackson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Steve Linton at the 225th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
