The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Patriots reached some 111 spots for Devin Culp, and value like that does not grow back. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
The Worthy steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Laiatu Latu in pick 34 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ja'Lynn Polk. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They will replay Xavier Worthy at No. 103 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They barely believed it either: Matt Goncalves still on the board at the 137th pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Somehow Dallin Holker was still sitting there in the 180th overall pick, and they pounced on premier tight end value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Devin Culp at pick No. 193 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value said wait; Jack Westover in the 231st overall pick says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
