There is reaching, and then there is Joe Huber at slot 239. The Packers jumped the board by 79 and dared it to prove them wrong. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The Strong pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd pick they get a load in the middle at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A tidy little value on Tre Harris in slot 54, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jayden Higgins in pick No. 87 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Darius Alexander in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Mello Dotson in No. 160 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
You do not let a cornerback like Dorian Strong reach the 200th overall pick and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Joe Huber at slot 239 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Value said wait; Bryson Eason in No. 251 says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
