If confidence were a draft strategy, the Packers would have aced it. JT Daniels at Round 1, Pick 27 is 383 spots clear of where he belonged. The math is unkind, and the D follows.
Everything downstream of JT Daniels depends on JT Daniels, and the building knows it. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get their quarterback of the future, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Kyle Monangai at the 58th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached a country mile for Kaden Prather at the Round 3 slot, and the board is aghast. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Michael Trigg at slot 127 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They reached into another round for Keaten Wade, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Bryan Felter at pick No. 202 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Latrell McCutchin Sr. in pick 250 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
