The Jaguars spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Chase Bisontis, the No. 53 name on the board, in slot 88. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They are betting Curry proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Adding Ricky Pearsall by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Value with a capital V on Caleb Banks in pick No. 58, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Jacob Rodriguez was still sitting there in No. 81, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Chase Bisontis at Round 3, Pick 24 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They talked themselves into Caden Curry at the 100th overall pick, and the board did not agree. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Sam Roush in the Round 4 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Charles Demmings slid further than he should have, and slot 164 is lovely value for the cornerback. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had Drew Allar higher than pick 166, and the quarterback fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They will replay Aamil Wagner at the 203rd pick for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Noah Whittington at pick 233 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Thaddeus Dixon at Round 7, Pick 24 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 245 with a little surplus value in Isaiah Nwokobia. The roster fit checks out.
