The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Jaguars watched Jake Slaughter slide 42 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
If Barham pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. With safety and linebacker unsolved, spending premium capital on edge rusher is the choice that costs them.
For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kayden McDonald at the 33rd pick is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Somehow Jake Golday was still sitting there in pick 81, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending pick No. 88 on Jaishawn Barham with safety and linebacker unsolved.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jake Slaughter in slot 100, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 124th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Kaytron Allen slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 26 is lovely value for the running back. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They read the board right and Ephesians Prysock was the payoff at the Round 6 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board fumbled Sawyer Robertson all the way to No. 233, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
John Michael Gyllenborg at pick No. 240 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
