Nobody else had Tyreak Sapp anywhere near the 100th pick. The Jaguars did, by 35 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
On value alone, Burke makes the weekend a net positive. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The trade work was a quiet net positive. Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 7 of 9 of the wish list covered.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
Value with a capital V on Peter Woods in the 41st pick, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Josiah Trotter at pick 81 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Mike Washington Jr. slipping to pick No. 88 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tyreak Sapp this early at the Round 3 slot. A minor itch, scratched.
A slide stopped in the 124th overall pick, with Jalen Farmer worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Charles Demmings at No. 164 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Eli Raridon in the 166th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Somehow Travis Burke was still sitting there in No. 203, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Thaddeus Dixon in the Round 7 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Xavier Nwankpa at the 245th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
