You could see the war room lean forward. Jared Wiley at pick No. 240 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
Cooper DeJean at the 12th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 2 slot with a little surplus value in Adonai Mitchell. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Chop Robinson at slot 43. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A tidy little value on Tyler Guyton in the 47th pick, a step better than break-even. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick 113 is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value with a capital V on James Williams in pick No. 143, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Steal is underselling it; Joe Milton III at No. 185 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They robbed the room for Jared Wiley here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A need, and now a little less of one.
