You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Dolphins did exactly that with Mikail Kamara in the 94th pick. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
They will answer for taking cornerback early while quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots went begging. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Landing Bernard that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 31st overall pick they get a green-dot type in the middle, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Chris Johnson at the Round 2 slot is the proof. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Dillon Thieneman slid further than he should have, and slot 43 is lovely value for the safety. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Germie Bernard at pick No. 74 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A surprising call. With quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots still to address, they spent No. 75 on Keionte Scott, a cornerback they were not short of.
Elijah Sarratt is a better player than Round 3, Pick 23 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They jumped the gun on Jalen Farmer, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The roster fit checks out.
They reached a country mile for Mikail Kamara at No. 94, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
CJ Daniels at the 130th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They went early on Louis Moore in slot 151, and the value did not follow. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
By-the-book stuff, Aamil Wagner at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Fa'alili Fa'amoe at pick No. 227 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Aiden Fisher at Round 7, Pick 22. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
