The Darius Robinson pick is the one that will follow the Packers into the fall. They took him 30 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.

They will answer for taking linebacker early while quarterback, wide receiver and other spots went begging. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The Jordan pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

So much rides on Byron Murphy II that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Byron Murphy II · DL · rank 40
The board had cheaper options than Byron Murphy II at No. 25, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Jackson Powers-Johnson · C · rank 51
A reach on Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 41st overall pick; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 58
Edgerrin Cooper in pick No. 57 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Bucky Irving · RB · rank 93
By-the-book stuff, Bucky Irving at slot 88 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Darius Robinson · DL-EDGE · rank 121
They reached a country mile for Darius Robinson at the Round 3 slot, and the board is aghast. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · James Williams · S · rank 134
They jumped the gun on James Williams, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 135
A surprising call. With quarterback, wide receiver and other spots still to address, they spent the 135th overall pick on Cedric Gray, a linebacker they were not short of.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 197
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 203 with a little surplus value in Christian Jones. The roster fit checks out.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Jawhar Jordan · RB · rank 209
A quiet steal in slot 217: Jawhar Jordan for less than the market said. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Demani Richardson · S · rank 246
Demani Richardson at pick 219 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · Dwight McGlothern · CB · rank 257
A reach for Dwight McGlothern in the 246th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
